Using Social Media Networking For Success
Traditionally, the flow of information to and from people was controlled by large media distribution networks like News Corportation and Liberty Media. These network distributed informational content around the globe. With the explosion of users posting their own content, ideas and information on the internet, the media giants have realized they will only grow if they effectively use social media to engage people on the internet.
This is one of the reasons that social media and social media marketing is so exciting for so several people and businesses and why it is great for people and their freedom of speech and in order. Social media sites like Digg give you the capability to quickly syndicate content from your blog and broadcast it the rest of the world. Unlike usual media the users of social media choose which articles are the most interesting by submitting their feedback and efficiently voting for the content.
With this type of system, the idea is that the best content will then appear at the top of the page. This gives users the some assurance that social media marketers are not manipulating the number of votes an article receives. Unfortunately, because the stakes are high, sometimes manupulation is attemped and successful before it is caught and banned. For example, Digg brings 200,000 unique visitors a day and can be a target for marketers to attemp to game the system. Other sites such as Slashdot can also make an overnight star out of a website or e-business by bringing in a number of unique visitors.
Despite the benefits of social media marketing, there are few good social media products out there for companies who want to promote their websites and content. Only recently have some good free tools like Social Bookmarker and AddUrl been created and used. Unfortunately, most webmaters and marketers still use spamming software or spend much of their time tediously submitting their content to relevant sites.
Now, major newspapers, television stations, and radio hosts keep and update blogs of their own. This is bringing more interest in online news sources to the mainstream, and people are reaching out for new ways to hear news.
Competition in business is able to tell what their rivals are doing simply by reading blogs on the internet. Even our habits of photo distribution are changing. We don’t need expensive equipment, film, and darkroom knowledge anymore. A cheap inexpensive model, even most phones, will produce good quality images for use online, and distribution of these images happens instantly.
The simplicity of social media, how easy it is to reach out an interact with hundreds of people in the stroke of a key, has become addicting for many individuals. For young people especially, social media is a hot topic of discussion. Every aspect of social media is examined, and opinions are formed and shared with others. It’s so easy to become obsessed with this level of technology and connection.
