Even if you have the greatest website in the world and the best products around you won’t see a single sale if you aren’t actively trying to get people to visit your website. The fact is that organic “just because” website traffic is very rare. Getting enough visitors to your site to make it profitable will not happen by itself; it requires some effort. There is no reason, however, that getting more traffic to your site has to be difficult or very time-consuming. In fact, traffic generation efforts should only take at least an hour or two of your day at most. This is because there are a lot of ways to build your website’s traffic. You can increase your website traffic very quickly if you start to use some of these methods.

Site submission using a search engine’s submission form: Do not use Google’s form, but it’s ok to do so with smaller, secondary engines for certain reasons – it will only help and not hurt. Using SEO might get you picked up organically, but the quickest way to make sure that your site is indexed on the major search engines is to use Web 2.0 methods. Of course submitting to secondary engines takes a little time. The reason for doing this is the major search engines will view those backlinks, which they’ll be, as a sign of more popularity, plus you’ll get added traffic from them. There are tons of ways to get backlinks, and some are certainly more valuable than others. You don’t want all high PR, high-power backlinks because Google recognizes that as unnatural, so having a good variety will make things look more normal, and natural.

Offer to guest post on other peoples’ sites. Article directories are fine, but if you can get your content onto an independent blog, you will be able to tap into that blog’s existing audience. You will get traffic if people read your content, like it, and it’s well done. It’s so much more powerful if you can get your work to appear on high authority websites and blogs. If you build a good relationship with such sites, it shouldn’t be difficult to do.

Do some research and locate some of the better newsletters within your market. Try to establish a positive relationship with them, and then request if you can write an article, or two, for their subscribers. Offer to forego payment for the article in exchange for a couple of links to your websites. Many newsletter authors will happily let you advertise your products if your content is well written and is well received by the newsletter readers. You never know what may come of it, maybe a paid writing job.

There are so many different ways to build up traffic to your website it can be hard to choose which methods you want to focus on. Don’t feel that you have to choose one method and ignore the others; you’ll actually find that you get the most traffic by using several techniques at once. If you are willing to work at it for a couple of hours every day, you will gradually master several traffic generating strategies that can consistently bring you hundreds of visitors per day! Some of these visitors will become buyers!
